Independent Research

IMG_0566.JPG

As a scholar, Palson studies LGBT documentary theater in the late 20th century, theater as an expression of historiographical and archival research, and how documentary theater allows theatermakers and audiences to revive the past, recontextualize the present as the future’s history, and envision their futures. Palson has presented work at the Association for Theatre in Higher Education Conference, Arts of the Present Conference, the Mid-America Theatre Conference, and others. Their dissertation studies the relationship between LGBTQ+ activism and documentary theater in the 1970s. Palson is a member of the UW Ethics of Care Initiative.

Higher Education Instruction

Palson has experience teaching a variety of courses concerning theater, English, Western Culture, critical thinking, and classics. They have been invited to classrooms to discuss the new play development process, LGBTQ art and culture, and their own work. Palson aspires to create a fruitful and open environment for students to learn and grow in the classroom.
